BRAINERD, Minn. — Former Walmart chief merchandising and marketing officer Duncan Mac Naughton assumes the role of CEO of Mills Fleet Farm, a Midwestern retailer with 35 stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and North Dakota.
His appointment became effective Monday upon the completion of the retailer’s acquisition by the investment firm KKR.
“I am honored to lead Mills Fleet Farm, a true legacy brand in the Midwest and one that I have grown up with since my early days in Wisconsin,” Mac Naughton said in a statement. “In partnership with the executive management team and KKR, I look forward to furthering the opportunities for growth that lie ahead for Mills Fleet Farm and continuing to invest significantly in the business, adding infrastructure, stores, and local jobs.”
Founded in 1955, Mills Fleet Farm describes itself “as a value-based retailer of lifestyle merchandise serving suburban and farm consumers.” The stores carry products ranging from hunting supplies and sporting goods to farm equipment and apparel.
Mac Naughton brings more than 30 years of experience to the position. Before joining Wal-Mart in 2009, Mac Naughton held a number of leadership roles at Supervalu Inc., Alberton’s, H-E-B and Kraft Foods Group Inc.
