Launched in 1995, the program aims to strengthen relationships between law enforcement officers and young people while encouraging acts of kindness and community involvement. Participating officers can distribute coupons to children they observe demonstrating positive behavior, such as wearing a bicycle helmet, helping neighbors, or picking up litter.

This year, 7-Eleven plans to distribute nearly 740,000 coupons to more than 1,300 participating law enforcement agencies across the United States. Since its launch, the program has distributed more than 24 million coupons.

“Operation Chill represents more than a moment of recognition. It reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering trust, strengthening community relationships and encouraging positive engagement,” said Treasa Bowers, executive vice president and chief people and sustainability officer at 7-Eleven. “For over three decades, this program has demonstrated how meaningful interactions can help bridge gaps, reinforce positive behavior and support stronger, more connected communities.”

According to the company, the initiative aligns with its broader philanthropic efforts to support thriving communities by recognizing everyday acts of kindness and by creating opportunities for positive engagement between officers and youth.

“Positive engagement with youth is essential to fostering safe and connected communities,” said Dallas Police Assistant Chief Teena Schultz. “7-Eleven’s Operation Chill program provides a unique opportunity to recognize good behavior while creating constructive, trust-building interactions between officers and the young people we serve.”

Coupons can be redeemed for a free small Slurpee drink at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes locations nationwide.
