SALISBURY, N.C. — Ahold Delhaize USA and its Food Lion division have both been named Top Employers in the United States by the Top Employers Institute.

Ahold Delhaize USA, the parent company of leading grocery brands such as Food Lion, Hannaford, and The GIANT Company, received the honor for its commitment to cultivating a purpose-driven culture. “At Ahold Delhaize USA, we’re committed to a workplace where associates can grow and win together,” said Cathy Edwards, Vice President of Human Resources. “This recognition highlights the focus we place on enabling our associates to thrive.”

Food Lion, with over 1,100 stores in 10 Southeastern and mid-Atlantic states, was also celebrated for its supportive workplace culture. Through its “Count on me” philosophy, the company fosters a sense of belonging among its 82,000 associates. Linda Johnson, Chief Human Resources and communications Officer at Food Lion, emphasized, “Deliberate and relevant human resources practices lay the foundation for a strong company culture. Our associates make Food Lion a great place to work and shop.”

The Top Employers Institute certification process evaluates companies through a comprehensive HR Best Practices Survey, which spans six key areas: People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Inclusion, and Well-being. Both Ahold Delhaize USA and Food Lion demonstrated excellence across all categories, reinforcing their reputations as leaders in employee engagement and workplace innovation.

David Plink, CEO of the Top Employers Institute, praised this year’s honorees: “Amidst constant change—through technological advances, economic shifts, and evolving social landscapes—it is inspiring to see organizations rise to the challenge. These Top Employers set the standard, consistently delivering world-class HR strategies and practices.”
