Albertsons LLC plans to close 26 stores in eight states spanning the country. The closures follow the company’s acquisition of more than 800 stores from Supervalu Inc. last year.

A company spokeswoman told the Idaho Statesman that 11 of the stores will be in Southern California; five in Washington; two each in Las Vegas, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts; and one each in Phoenix and Albuquerque, N.M.

The Pennsylvania stores carry the Acme Markets banner, while those in Massachusetts are Shaw’s Supermarkets.

Last month Albertsons acquired Lubbock, Texas-based United Supermarkets, a 51-store regional chain. According to a filing with the Federal Trade Commission, the previously undisclosed purchase price for the chain was $385 million. Both Albertsons and United are privately held.
