Stanley Latacha was named interim chief executive officer at Alco Stores Inc. earlier this month. Latacha is one of seven newly elected directors that replaced the retailer’s existing board during the company’s annual meeting in late August.
Some institutional investors had expressed dissatisfaction with the incumbent board and indicated that they would vote against granting new terms for individual directors at Alco’s annual meeting, originally scheduled for late July.
That meeting was called to order and immediately adjourned before a vote could be taken or other business conducted.
"I am honored with the board of directors’ trust in leading the team at Alco and working with all of its stakeholders in bringing positive, hands-on change to the business," Latacha said.
He succeeds Richard Wilson, who served as CEO for the past four years.
Wilson credited Alco’s shareholders with positioning the company well, with strong leadership as well as a commitment to build on its legacy.
