BATAVIA, Ill. – ALDI is accelerating its impact in the fight against childhood cancer, announcing it is on track to meet its $10 million fundraising goal for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) a full year ahead of schedule. This year marks the seventh consecutive $1 million donation from the grocer to ALSF, reinforcing a partnership that began in 2019 and has since grown into a powerful force for pediatric cancer research and family support.
Originally committed to hitting the $10 million mark by 2027, ALDI now expects to meet its goal by 2026, thanks to the dedicated efforts of its employees and supplier partners.
“At ALDI, we’re focused on making a lasting impact on the issues that matter most to our communities,” said Dave Rinaldo, Chief Operating Officer, ALDI U.S. “The heartfelt engagement from our ALDI teams and supplier partners across the country has been invaluable, and it’s because of their efforts that we’re expected to reach our fundraising goal one year early. Together, we're fueling life-changing research and helping families navigate the challenges of childhood cancer, one cup of lemonade at a time.”
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was inspired by Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who started selling lemonade at age four to raise money for children like herself battling cancer. Since 2005, ALSF has raised over $300 million, funding more than 1,500 research grants and contributing to today’s 85% childhood cancer survival rate in the U.S.
As part of this year’s campaign, ALDI is inviting customers to support ALSF during Lemonade Days by:
- Hosting a Lemonade Stand to Donate Proceeds to ALSF. Fill your neighbor's cups and help raise funds for ALSF by purchasing lemon-themed ALDI Finds on shelves June 11, including a juice press, beverage dispenser, sugar-free lemonade and more for your own stand.
- Buying a Limited-Time Reusable ALDI x ALSF Bag. Spread awareness for ALSF with a reusable bag featuring artwork from an Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Hero, part of a special program designed to support siblings of children with cancer and those who are cancer survivors.
- Donating Directly to the Cause Online. Contribute directly to ALSF, supporting its impactful research in over 240 clinical trials each year which help families across the country who are affected by childhood cancer.
“ALDI has been a valuable partner since 2019, and their support has helped us take steps toward achieving Alex’s dream to cure childhood cancer,” said Liz Scott, Co-Executive Director of ALSF and Alex’s mother. “Partners like ALDI play an important role in the progress we’ve made toward our goal to raise $500 million to fund pediatric cancer research and make impacted families’ lives easier in the process.”
