Aldi is a no-frills, private label grocery format recently recognized by consumer research firm Market Force as the nation’s low-price grocery leader. When asked to rank grocery stores offering low prices, respondents rated Aldi superior to Costco, Walmart, Trader Joe’s and ShopRite. It’s the fourth consecutive year that Aldi was rated highest in that category.
Aldi is in the early stages of an accelerated strategic growth plan in the United States, which involves the recently announced deal to buy 66 Bottom Dollar store locations from Delhaize America Inc. and opening 650 new stores across the country.
