SEATTLE — Amazon announced an expansion of its Locker network to more than 750 locations at about 500 colleges and universities across the United States.
The program gives students a secure and convenient way to receive Amazon orders close to where they live and study, the company said.
“College students are constantly on the move, and picking up a package should fit into their day — not the other way around,” said Viraj Chatterjee, vice president, Amazon Transportation.
Prime for Young Adults membership costs $7.49 per month, or $69 annually. To join, customers must share their driver's license, passport, or identity card to confirm their age.
Shoppers can select a campus Locker at checkout, track their order via the Amazon app, and collect packages within a three-day window using a barcode or code, with uncollected items automatically returned and refunded.
The Amazon Locker locations are part of Amazon’s network of more than 25,000 package pickup locations nationwide. Amazon introduced delivery lockers at retail locations nearly 15 years ago.
