SEATTLE — Amazon will hold its Prime Big Deal Days event Oct. 6-7, kicking off its holiday push with millions of deals exclusively for Prime members.
The 48-hour event begins October 6 at 12:01 a.m. PDT and will span categories including grocery, household essentials, beauty, apparel, toys, electronics, home and seasonal merchandise. Amazon said it will offer more than 1 million items at its lowest prices of the year so far.
“Once fall arrives, there’s so much to get ready for, the hosting, the decorating, the holiday gifting, and Prime Big Deal Days makes it easy to check it all off while saving,” said Carmen Nestares, vice president of North America Marketing and Prime Tech. “With over one million items at Amazon’s lowest price of the year so far, this is the perfect time to get ahead on seasonal shopping.”
Amazon will introduce new deal drops three times each day, at midnight, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. PDT. The company said participating brands include Sony, Tarte, adidas, Caraway, Play-Doh, Canon, Dove, LEGO and Dyson.
The event also highlights Amazon’s growing grocery and rapid-delivery businesses. Prime members will have access to discounts on fresh grocery items for fall entertaining, with free delivery on qualifying orders in most areas. Amazon said millions of products are available for Same-Day Delivery in more than 10,000 U.S. cities and towns, while more than 90,000 household essentials can be delivered in one or three hours through its Same-Day Delivery network.
Amazon is also integrating Alexa for Shopping more prominently into the event. The AI shopping assistant can track price history, create deal alerts and notify customers when products reach a specified price. Customers can also use an Auto-Buy feature that automatically purchases an item when it reaches a preset target price.
The event comes as retailers compete to capture holiday spending earlier in the season. Amazon is positioning Prime Big Deal Days around not only holiday gifts but also Halloween, fall apparel, seasonal décor, grocery, entertaining and everyday household purchases.
