WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — As executive vice president, chief merchandising and retail officer for Hy-Vee, Anna Stoermer oversees all aspects of Hy-Vee’s retail operations and merchandising plans.
Stoermer works closely with store leaders, as well as operational teams to ensure that Hy-Vee is delivering the best service, experience, quality and value to its customers. Every decision she makes is guided with a customer-first mentality.
“I’ve always enjoyed encouraging our store leaders to challenge themselves to be the absolute best merchants they can be and elevate the customer experience every day,” Stoermer said. “At the same time, I enjoy encouraging our corporate staff to always keep the store perspective in mind when we’re designing a new program, campaign or partnership.”
Stoermer’s career at Hy-Vee began in 2003 as a courtesy clerk, and in 2011 she took on her first leadership assignment as an assistant manager at a store in Coralville, Iowa. She was promoted to store director in 2017, followed by elevation to district vice president in 2020.
In 2022 Stoermer was named executive vice president. She has since held several executive leadership roles at that level, including chief marketing officer and chief merchandising officer.
As a retailer, Stoermer takes great pride in Hy-Vee’s support of the communities it serves across the Midwest.
“I’m so proud of the way our stores and vendor partners rallied around our recent 100 Million Meals Challenge to help fight food insecurity, and the work that our stores and leaders do to help find local brands and products,” she said.
