April Showers to launch ‘Magic Makers’ entrepreneur talk show on AfroLandTV

The new series, which debuted on January 19, spotlights founders behind consumer brands that have scaled into national retail distribution.

LOS ANGELES — Entrepreneur and brand founder April Showers is expanding her media footprint with the launch of Magic Makers with April Showers Talk Show, a new entrepreneur-focused series that recently debuted on AfroLandTV.

Positioned as a founder-forward talk show, Magic Makers centers on the business realities behind scaling consumer brands into national retail distribution. The series features long-form conversations with entrepreneurs, creatives and media executives whose products have reached mass-market shelves, including big-box, drugstore, grocery and off-price channels.

Showers, founder of the Afro Unicorn brand, said the show is designed to surface the practical and personal challenges behind brand-building. “Magic Makers is about meeting the magic behind the brand and discovering how they turned an idea into something real,” Showers said in a statement. She added that her experience building Afro Unicorn informed the show’s emphasis on representation, purpose and operational discipline.

Season one spotlights founders whose products are carried by major national retailers, including Walmart, Target and CVS. Episodes are structured around founder-to-founder discussions that examine mindset, resilience and execution, with a focus on how brands navigate the path from concept to national distribution.

Scheduled guests for the first season include Mona Scott-Young, a media executive and producer; Kim Roxie, founder and chief executive officer of LAMIK Beauty; and Shontay Lundy, founder of Black Girl Sunscreen. According to the network, each episode explores both the strategic and operational decisions required to succeed at scale, including retail readiness and brand positioning.

The show aligns with AfroLandTV’s broader mission to amplify Black and Pan-African voices through global storytelling. Founded in 2017, AfroLandTV offers a content library of more than 5,000 hours spanning African, Afro-Caribbean, African-American and Afro-diaspora programming. The platform positions itself as a destination for culturally focused content that intersects culture, commerce and community.

For Showers, Magic Makers represents a continuation of her work spotlighting entrepreneurship through a media lens. Afro Unicorn, which began as a mission-driven concept centered on affirmation and representation, has grown into a consumer brand with national retail placement. Through the new series, Showers aims to translate that experience into actionable insight for current and aspiring founders.

Magic Makers with April Showers Talk Show will stream exclusively on AfroLandTV.
