SAYREVILLE, N.J. — Bass Pro Shops has scheduled the grand opening of its 200,000-square-foot Outdoor World complex here for November 11, with live entertainment, an appearance by NASCAR legend Martin Truex Jr., a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, and door prizes.
The new location represents a unique combination of retail, conservation education and immersive entertainment experiences, the company says.
The centerpiece is a three-story-high, 80,000-gallon Shipwreck Aquarium designed to transport guests into an underwater world teeming with more than 280 fish and situated alongside live jellyfish exhibits and a touch pool with five species of rays.

The new Outdoor World destination will also feature The Flemish Cap, described as a restaurant and adventure experience inspired by the mysteries and beauty of the North Atlantic.
Designed as an immersive deep-sea environment, the attraction combines casual dining with interactive experiences, underwater-themed bowling lanes and arcade games.
The Sayreville Bass Pro Shops will also showcase former-President George H.W. Bush’s fishing boat Fidelity V as part of a tribute to sport fishing’s influence on conservation initiatives supported by former presidents.
The newest Outdoor World destination is within the Riverton retail complex, located off the Garden State Parkway near the intersection of Interstate 95 and Interstate 287.

The November 11 “Evening for Conservation” will be followed by a full weekend of grand-opening festivities, “can’t-miss deals,” exclusive events, and attractions for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages:
• Military veterans are invited to stop by the VIP Veterans Tent on the opening night for giveaways and opportunities to honor and celebrate other veterans.
• Shoppers can create Christmas memories throughout the holiday season at Santa’s Wonderland. Beginning November 12, families visiting the in-store space can receive a free 4×6 studio-quality photo with Santa Claus.
• Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s CLUB Members receive 10% discounts on almost everything for sale at the store, from November 11 to November 15.
• Daily door prizes will be given to the first 200 families through the door on November 12, November 13 and November 14.
The outdoor equipment retailer said it opted to open its newest location on Veterans Day as a reflection of its longstanding commitment to military veterans and families. Bass Pro Shop’s founder, Johnny Mathis, is the son of decorated World War II veteran John A. Morris, who served in the Battle of the Bulge, the surprise offensive also known as “Germany’s Last Blitzkrieg,” launched in December 1944 and meant to compel the Allies to negotiate a peace deal.
Headquartered in Springfield, Mo., Bass Pro LLC is dedicated to protecting habitat and introducing families to the outdoors. It operates nearly 200 retail locations in North America. The company also manufactures outdoor equipment; its White River Marine Group is the world’s largest builder of fishing and recreational boats by volume.
