JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — BI-LO Holding has signed a long-term deal to have Keene, N.H.-based C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. provide warehouse, transportation and most procurement services for all 480 Winn-Dixie supermarkets.
BI-LO Holding has signed a long-term deal to have Keene, N.H.-based C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. provide warehouse, transportation and most procurement services for all 480 Winn-Dixie supermarkets.
C&S will also continue to provide those services for the 206-store BI-LO chain, as it has since 2005.
"We believe this deal will allow us to leverage the experience and buying power of C&S so that we can continue to reinvest in our company and focus on selling great products at good value to our customers," said BI-LO Holding president and chief executive officer Randall Onstead.
As part of the deal, C&S will take over the operation of Winn-Dixie’s six distribution centers, which are located in Baldwin, Jacksonville, Miami and Orlando, Fla.; Montgomery, Ala.; and Hammond, La. As each center is taken over by C&S, a process due to be completed by the end of the year, its workers will become employees of C&S. The companies say there will be minimal changes to the centers’ associates or to their wages and benefits.
