MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – BJ’s Wholesale Club has made big changes to its executive leadership team, promoting Scott Schmadeke to executive vice president and chief operations officer and Krystyna Kostka to chief supply chain officer.

In his new role, Schmadeke will oversee all club operations, distribution centers, logistics, and asset protection. He will report directly to BJ's chairman and CEO, Bob Eddy, and will join the company’s executive leadership team.

Kostka, who previously served as senior vice president of operations, will now lead BJ’s distribution and logistics networks, planning and allocation, and robotics and automation initiatives. Kostka will report to Schmadeke.

“Scott and Krystyna are dynamic leaders with deep knowledge of our company and impressive records at BJ’s,” Eddy stated. “These changes will ensure that we continue to offer world-class service to our members and drive efficiency across our network as we deliver unbeatable value and profitable growth. I look forward to continuing to work with Scott and Krystyna as we take care of the families who depend on us.”

The appointments come as BJ’s continues its strategic focus on operational efficiency and expanding its fresh offerings. Schmadeke, who joined BJ’s in 2018, has played a key role in driving the company’s club performance and expanding its perishable distribution capabilities. He was also instrumental in rolling out BJ’s enhanced fresh food selections and in opening new clubs.

Kostka, a veteran of BJ’s since 2014, initially led fuel operations and was pivotal in expanding BJ’s Gas. More recently, she spearheaded the company’s efforts to deploy robotics and automation within clubs and distribution centers. Her experience in leveraging emerging technologies will be crucial as BJ’s continues to optimize its supply chain for greater efficiency.

The leadership changes follow Jeff Desroches's resignation as executive vice president and chief operations officer. Schmadeke and Kostka will fill the roles he vacated, bringing fresh perspectives to the company’s operations and supply chain management.

BJ’s Wholesale Club, known for its commitment to value and convenience, continues to prioritize investments in technology and distribution to meet its members' evolving needs.
