MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — As it celebrates its 42nd birthday, BJ’s Wholesale Club is showing its appreciation for its hourly workers with gift cards valued at between $250 and $2,000.
Gift cards worth more than $25 million are being awarded based on each team member's tenure and represent an investment in the company's workforce as well as gratitude for 42 years of customer service.
“BJ’s Wholesale Club is driven by a powerful purpose: we take care of the families who depend on us,” says Bob Eddy, chairman and chief executive officer of BJ’s Wholesale Club. “We’re living that purpose by taking care of our team members across our clubs and distribution centers.”
It’s the largest employee recognition award in BJ’s history, according to the company. Bonuses were last paid in 2021, when $8 million was distributed to full-time and part-time workers.
BJ’s said it has been delivering value and convenience in a true one-stop shop to members since its first club opened in 1984 in Medford, Mass. The company now serves more than 8.5 million members across 268 clubs and 209 gas stations in 22 states, offering fresh food and produce, a full-service deli and bakery, household essentials, pet supplies, toys, consumer electronics, apparel, and seasonal décor.
