LONDON — bp has appointed Carol Howle as deputy CEO, effective immediately, expanding her responsibilities as the company continues a broad strategic review.
Howle will oversee bp’s supply, trading, and shipping (ST&S) division while also managing the company’s ongoing portfolio review and long-term strategy development. As part of this transition, bp’s strategy and sustainability team will now report to her.

Meg O’Neill said the move is intended to bring greater clarity and consistency as the company advances beyond its current 2027 targets. “I’m looking forward to working closely with her to deliver a simpler, stronger, more valuable bp to maximize value for our shareholders,” O’Neill said.
Howle, who has spent 25 years with bp, was appointed executive vice president of ST&S in 2020 and most recently served as interim CEO in December 2025. In her new role, she will play a central part in shaping the company’s strategic direction while supporting operational performance.
“Progress has been made in recent months but there is always more to do,” Howle said. “Meg and I share a commitment to safe and reliable operations, disciplined capital allocation and high-quality delivery.”
