HOUSTON — bp pulse, bp’s global electric vehicle (EV) charging division, has opened its newest U.S. charging hub just 1.5 miles from William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). The new location features 40 ultrafast 150kW DC charging stations, expanding bp pulse’s presence in Houston and providing a major new charging option for ride-hail drivers, airport travelers, and local EV owners.
Located at 8100 Monroe Road, the Hobby Airport site is bp pulse’s second major charging hub in the Houston area, following the opening of its first U.S. EV hub at bp’s Houston headquarters in 2024. The new location represents another step in the company’s broader plan to deploy convenient, high-speed charging throughout key metro areas and airport corridors.

To celebrate the opening, BP Pulse will host a public launch event on November 12, offering EV drivers charging at a promotional rate of $0.01/kWh and providing complimentary refreshments and giveaways from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT.
“We are thrilled to open our latest EV charging hub near Houston’s Hobby Airport,” said Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas. “This is another example of how we’re meeting EV drivers and ride-hailing fleets where they are—across metro and airport locations like this one.”
The new site includes covered canopies and free Wi-Fi to enhance customer comfort while charging. It also supports bp pulse’s growing partnership with Hertz, which aims to expand EV charging access near major airports nationwide. The companies have already collaborated on major hubs at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).
“As our rideshare drivers often turn to EVs, having fast, reliable charging near key locations like Hobby Airport makes a real difference,” said Doria Holbrook, EVP Mobility at Hertz. “This new bp pulse hub offers the convenient access and ultrafast charging our drivers need to stay powered and productive, while also serving the broader EV community in Houston.”
bp pulse continues to build its national charging network across a variety of site types within the bp retail ecosystem—including bp, Amoco, ampm, Thorntons, and TravelCenters of America. Many sites offer on-site amenities, including convenience stores, restaurants, and car washes.
In addition, bp pulse recently announced a strategic agreement with Waffle House to install EV chargers at select locations.
The new Hobby Airport charging hub highlights bp pulse’s goal to make EV charging quicker, simpler, and more accessible for American drivers as the shift to electric mobility speeds up.
