BrakeTime plans 35 new c-store builds by 2026

To date, BrakeTime has primarily grown through acquisitions.

HOUSTON — BrakeTime Corner Market (BTCM), a diversified operator with more than 300 convenience stores, gas stations, hotels, and vape shops across multiple states, is entering a new phase of growth with plans to build 35 new c-stores by the end of 2026.

The first three locations are expected to open in the Houston area in the coming months, with additional sites slated for Dallas, Tempe, Arizona, and select markets in Kansas, Colorado, and Arkansas, according to co-founder and CEO Usman Bashir.

Until now, BTCM has grown primarily through acquisitions, including 48 CEFCO convenience stores from Fikes Wholesale in 2022 and 62 EG America sites in 2024. The new builds will mark the company’s first ground-up expansion since its founding in 2004.

Foodservice at the Core

A key focus of the new builds will be foodservice. Each site will include a kitchen capable of supporting regionally tailored in-house food programs. BTCM is also developing a proprietary quick-service concept blending American, Mexican, and Chinese cuisine, further distinguishing its retail footprint.

A Philosophy of Simplicity

BTCM’s expansion reflects its broader philosophy: delivering effortless convenience across its portfolio. The company collaborates with leading fuel suppliers, food chains, hotels, real estate ventures, and retail partners to transform its locations into comprehensive hubs that cater to customers’ diverse needs.

With stores open 24/7 and designed for hassle-free service, BTCM aims to create consistency and reliability as it shifts toward new builds.

Looking Ahead

Beyond 2026, BTCM plans to maintain momentum by developing 20 to 30 stores annually, while continuing to explore strategic acquisitions.
