TYLER, Texas – In response to growing community needs, Brookshire Grocery Company (BGC) is donating $500,000 to local food banks serving communities where its stores operate in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. BGC is proud to continue its longstanding tradition of supporting hunger relief efforts across its market area.
This significant contribution reflects BGC’s unwavering commitment to fighting hunger and supporting the communities that support its stores. This donation will be used to help bridge the meal gap for families facing food insecurity.
“Our company was founded on the core value of serving our communities, and that commitment remains strong today,” said Brad Brookshire, Chairman and CEO for BGC. “We recognize the challenges many families are facing, especially during this time of increased need, and we are honored to support the food banks that are on the front lines of hunger relief.”
This donation comes at a critical time, as many communities are feeling the impact of the ongoing government shutdown and a temporary pause in federal SNAP benefits. Food banks across the region are experiencing increased demand, and BGC’s contribution will help ensure they can continue to provide essential meals and support to those who need it most.
In addition to this donation, BGC is hosting its annual holiday food drives earlier than planned to provide even more support to local food banks during this critical time. Now through Dec. 16, customers at all Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, FRESH by Brookshire’s, Reasor’s and FRESH by Reasor’s can contribute by donating at checkout using scan coupons. All funds collected will be distributed to local service organizations and food pantries to help feed families in need this holiday season. This early launch reflects BGC’s deep commitment to supporting hunger relief and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those it serves.
