The new travel center will be built on a 344-acre site in Archdale, near Interstate 85, and is expected to open in late 2027. According to company officials, the store will be approximately 75,000 square feet larger than Buc-ee’s nearest location in Florence, S.C.
The North Carolina project is part of a broader growth strategy that continues to push the Texas-based chain into new markets. Buc-ee’s currently operates stores in 17 states and has multiple locations under development across the country.
The company opened a new travel center in Huber Heights, Ohio, this year and plans to open additional stores in Goodyear, Ariz.; San Marcos, Texas; Benton, Ark.; and Murfreesboro, Tenn., before the end of 2026.
Buc-ee’s also recently unveiled plans for a 74,000-square-foot travel center in Stafford, Va. The proposed location would feature 120 fuel pumps and more than 800 parking spaces and is expected to create hundreds of jobs. Local officials have indicated that the project could take several years to complete while federal traffic reviews proceed.
Known for its oversized travel centers, extensive food offerings and loyal customer following, Buc-ee’s has continued to expand well beyond its Texas roots as it competes for market share in the growing convenience and travel retail sector.
