Casey’s expands in Oklahoma with ASAP Energy deal

Casey’s continues its expansion strategy with an agreement to acquire Oklahoma-based ASAP Energy.

WEATHERFORD, Okla. — Casey’s General Stores has entered into an agreement to acquire ASAP Energy Inc., a family-owned convenience retail and fuel business serving communities across Western Oklahoma.

The transaction includes ASAP Energy’s 20 convenience stores in Oklahoma, as well as its wholesale and commercial fuels and lubricants businesses and other related assets, according to a Casey’s representative.

ASAP Energy owners Rick and Sheila Koch announced the agreement after more than 47 years of operating the family-owned business. The Kochs said providing continued service to customers while creating additional opportunities for employees were important considerations in their decision to sell.

Casey’s said ASAP Energy’s combination of convenience retail and fuel operations fits with its growth strategy. The acquisition comes as Casey’s continues expanding through both acquisitions and new-store construction.

Casey’s operated 2,959 stores as of July 31, up from 2,944 at the beginning of its fiscal year. The company expects to open at least 120 stores during fiscal 2027 through a combination of acquisitions and new construction.

Founded in Iowa in 1968, Casey’s operates in 19 states and employs approximately 50,000 team members. The company is the third-largest convenience store retailer and fifth-largest pizza chain in the United States.

The Kochs said Casey’s presence in smaller communities was another factor in the decision. Approximately two-thirds of Casey’s stores are located in communities with populations of 20,000 or fewer.
