ORLANDO — The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) has elected seven new members to its board of directors and named Bayer executive David Tomasi as chair-elect, as the organization continues to position itself for growth in a rapidly evolving self-care landscape.
The announcements were made during CHPA’s annual Self-Care Leadership Summit (SLS), where more than 300 industry executives gathered to discuss trends shaping consumer healthcare.
Tomasi, president of consumer health for Bayer’s North America region, will assume the role of board chair in March 2027. He will succeed current chair Greg Bradley, president and chief executive officer of Foundation Consumer Healthcare, who will complete his term at that time.
“CHPA is privileged to be guided by outstanding industry leaders who volunteer their time and expertise to serve on our board of directors,” said CHPA president and CEO Scott Melville. “I am delighted to welcome our new board members, whose deep experience and diverse perspectives will strengthen our work to empower self-care in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.”
Melville also praised Tomasi’s appointment, noting that his leadership experience will help guide the association through a period of continued transformation across the healthcare and consumer goods sectors.
New Voices Join the Board
The association elected seven new members to the board, reflecting a mix of manufacturer and associate member companies spanning over-the-counter medicines, supplements, personal care and industry services.
Newly elected members include Jeff Fischer, president of Vespyr; Alex Gelbert, founder and chief executive officer of Let There Be; Chris Haimbach, general manager for North America at Perrigo; Amardeep Kahlon, chief executive officer of Designs for Health; Jason Reiser, chief executive officer of Market Performance Group (MPG); Carla Speering, global head of essential health at Kenvue; and Jennifer White, global head of growth at Klick.
They join a board that includes senior leaders from across the consumer healthcare sector, including executives from companies such as Nestlé Health Science U.S., Colgate-Palmolive, Edgewell Personal Care, Beiersdorf, Prestige Consumer Healthcare and Lil’ Drug Store Products.
One-third of CHPA’s board is elected each year, with manufacturer members serving three-year terms and associate members serving two-year terms.
Continuity and Industry Leadership
In addition to the newly elected members, several current board members were re-elected, ensuring continuity in leadership as the organization navigates key industry challenges and opportunities.
The board plays a central role in shaping CHPA’s priorities, including advocacy efforts, regulatory engagement and initiatives aimed at expanding access to self-care products.
The consumer healthcare industry continues to evolve as consumers take a more active role in managing their health, driving demand for over-the-counter medicines, dietary supplements and wellness solutions. At the same time, companies are navigating regulatory complexity, shifting consumer expectations and increased competition across retail and digital channels.
Against that backdrop, CHPA has emphasized the importance of strong industry collaboration and leadership.
Preparing for the Next Chapter
Tomasi’s appointment as chair-elect signals a focus on continuity and strategic alignment as CHPA looks ahead to the next phase of industry growth.
As head of Bayer’s consumer health business in North America, Tomasi brings experience in managing large-scale brands and navigating the intersection of healthcare, retail and consumer engagement—areas that are becoming increasingly important as self-care continues to expand.
His upcoming tenure as board chair is expected to coincide with ongoing shifts in how consumers access healthcare products, including the growth of digital health platforms, expanded retail healthcare services and increased emphasis on prevention and wellness.
CHPA, founded in 1881, represents leading manufacturers and marketers of consumer healthcare products, including OTC medicines, dietary supplements and medical devices. The organization has long positioned itself as an advocate for policies and practices that promote access to safe, effective and affordable self-care solutions.
With new leadership joining its board and a chair-elect in place, the association is reinforcing its commitment to guiding the industry through a period of significant change while continuing to support innovation and consumer access across the healthcare landscape.
