For nearly 25 years, Christine Connolly has helped guide Dollar General through many chapters in its evolution — often from behind the scenes and always ensuring the company’s governance, disclosure and investor engagement programs remain strong, durable and aligned with strategy.
“While my role is not customer-facing, witnessing its broader impact is deeply rewarding,” Connolly shared. Today, as the company’s senior vice president, corporate secretary and assistant general counsel for securities and governance, Connolly works closely with the company’s board of directors, senior leadership and internal partners across the business to translate an increasingly complex governance and investor landscape into impactful, tactical guidance.
Connolly’s recollection of successes throughout her tenured career includes her support of the company’s first CEO who was not a member of the founding family, the company’s acquisition by private equity and subsequent initial public offering and re-listing on the New York Stock Exchange, and seeing the real estate footprint grow from 6,000 stores when she joined the company to nearly 21,000 stores today, all of which has helped further the company’s mission of Serving Others.
