CINCINNATI — As president of Kroger Health, the health care division of Kroger Co., Colleen Lindholz oversees the company’s pharmacy, clinical and nutrition operations and services, including health care-related digital solutions and telehealth platforms. She leads a team of 24,000 associates, including pharmacists, nurse practitioners, dietitians and technicians staffing more than 2,200 pharmacies and 220-plus clinics across 35 states.
Lindholz is the architect of Kroger’s Food as Medicine strategy, an approach the grocer committed to during the 2022 White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health. In 2023 Kroger Health hosted the first Nourishing Change Summit to explore ways to improve Americans’ health. The results of the inaugural session were promising enough that a second summit was held last July in Cincinnati, dedicated to exploring the transformative power of Food as Medicine.
“With so many long-term diseases that are able to be prevented or slowed by small diet changes, Food as Medicine is a critical step toward improving health outcomes for millions of people in the U.S.,” Lindholz said.
A key feature of the event was its Product Pavilion, a platform for better-for-you, emerging brands focused on helping people live healthier lives. Brands in the pavilion were highlighted to Kroger’s leadership and merchandisers. This year’s Nourishing Change Conference will be held May 13 to May 15 in Cincinnati.
“Empowering communities is essential for improving health outcomes and ensuring everyone has access to making healthy choices,” said Lindholz. “With the upcoming Nourishing Change Conference we’re rallying innovators from all corners of business, technology, academia, government and health care to discuss how we can collaborate and engage communities to address the barriers to better health. Together, we can redefine the role of food in health and wellness and make a lasting difference in people’s lives.”
