SAN FRANCISCO — Costco Wholesale is expanding its same-day delivery model, previously established in the U.S. and Canada, to new international markets. It is launching its first same-day delivery websites in France and Spain, using technology from its longtime partner, Instacart.
The move is a direct extension of a partnership that has been active for years in North America, where Instacart powers Costco’s same-day delivery sites in the U.S. and Canada and supports delivery from Costco warehouses nationwide. The European launch applies the same enterprise e-commerce and fulfillment system to new regions, marking another step in expanding a U.S.-proven model globally.
Through the new sites—sameday.costco.fr and sameday.costco.es—Costco members in select markets can shop directly on Costco-branded websites and get same-day delivery. Orders are processed from local Costco warehouses and delivered to members’ homes, with the same pricing as in-store and a flat service fee per order.

The initial rollout includes all Costco locations in France and Spain, covering major metro areas such as Paris, Madrid, and Bilbao. Instacart is working with local European partners to handle picking, packing, and delivery in compliance with country-specific regulations, while Costco maintains control of the customer-facing experience.
“Costco has been a trusted partner for many years in North America, and expanding this relationship internationally builds on a foundation that’s already proven at scale in the U.S.,” said Chris Rogers, chief executive officer and chair of Instacart. He added that the launch highlights how Instacart’s enterprise technology can support large-format retailers as they extend digital and delivery capabilities beyond North America.
For Costco, the expansion reflects its U.S. strategy of utilizing online ordering and same-day delivery to support its warehouse model, enhance convenience, and boost member engagement without altering its core value proposition.
The launches in France and Spain highlight a larger trend among U.S.-based retailers and technology providers: exporting domestic e-commerce and fulfillment platforms to international markets as expectations for digital grocery and same-day delivery continue to rise worldwide.
