SALISBURY, N.C. — Delhaize America has decided to abandon its upscale supermarket concept called Bloom in the Carolinas and will rebanner 15 stores in the Charlotte, N.C., and Greenville, S.C., markets as Food Lions. One location, in Mauldin, S.C., will be closed by the end of April.
Delhaize America has decided to abandon its upscale supermarket concept called Bloom in the Carolinas and will rebanner 15 stores in the Charlotte, N.C., and Greenville, S.C., markets as Food Lions. One location, in Mauldin, S.C., will be closed by the end of April.
In a statement, Tammy DeBoer, vice president of Bloom, said the stores will remain open during the conversion process, which will be accomplished as quickly as possible.
The company will continue to operate 42 Bloom outlets in southeast Virginia and seven in Maryland, where it has performed better.
