GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General Corp. announced plans to open its first stores in Montana this fall, marking the discount retailer’s entry into its 48th state.
“Announcing plans for Montana has an extra element of excitement at Dollar General because our expansion in the Treasure State will complete our presence throughout the lower 48,” says Steve Deckard, Dollar General’s executive vice president of growth and emerging markets.
The stores are under construction in Columbia Falls (Flathead County) and Eureka (Lincoln County). The company is evaluating additional locations in the state.
Dollar General’s expansion to Montana comes after its first international store opening, in Mexico, where it was expecting to have as many as 10 locations up and running this year.
