Promotions and appointments underscore the company’s push to modernize operations and expand digital reach.

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.Dollar General Corp. announced a slate of leadership promotions and new appointments this week, reinforcing the discount retailer’s emphasis on strengthening its bench across both traditional operations and fast-growing digital and media businesses.

The moves span six leaders in store operations, technology, digital commerce, and DG Media Network, reflecting the company’s dual focus on operational scale and innovation.

Tod Boyster was promoted to senior vice president of store operations, a role in which he will oversee more than 9,000 locations across the western United States. Boyster, who joined Dollar General nearly two decades ago as a store manager candidate, has risen steadily through the ranks in operations and sales. Most recently, he was divisional vice president of store operations, guiding stores in the Midwest and Southeast.

The company also advanced Daniel Blaich to vice president, store operations. Blaich will lead efforts in retail compliance, asset protection, store processes, and field communications. Since joining in 2017 as director of reporting and analytics, he has held multiple leadership roles tied to operations performance.

In addition, Dollar General named Adam Elder as division vice president of store operations. Elder, who has more than 20 years of experience spanning consumer packaged goods, consulting, and retail, will be responsible for more than 2,300 stores across the Midwest and south-central regions. His expertise in field operations and project management is expected to support the chain’s continued expansion in those markets.

On the technology front, Tom Ratz was promoted to senior vice president, technology and chief information security officer. Ratz has served the company for nearly 20 years, beginning as an IT security manager and advancing into senior IT leadership. In his expanded role, he will continue to oversee information security while also taking on responsibility for IT quality assurance and disaster recovery programs. Dollar General said his focus will be to ensure resilient technology systems while driving platform innovation.

With retail media emerging as a critical revenue driver, Dollar General appointed Austin Leonard as vice president and general manager of DG Media Network (DGMN). Leonard, who has more than two decades of advertising and media experience with retailers, e-commerce firms, and agencies, will direct DGMN’s go-to-market strategy, sales, media operations, insights, and performance measurement. His appointment underscores Dollar General’s ambition to strengthen its position in the competitive retail media landscape.

Meanwhile, Lydia Thacher was elevated to vice president of digital commerce. Thacher has been instrumental in shaping Dollar General’s e-commerce strategy since joining in 2020, where she has held roles in digital merchandising and commerce. She led the launch of key partnerships, including with DoorDash, and has helped accelerate the company’s digital growth. In her new role, she will drive transformation across digital channels, customer experience, and retail media integration.

The promotions highlight Dollar General’s ongoing transformation as it balances its traditional store footprint of more than 20,000 locations with investments in technology and digital platforms. By advancing long-tenured leaders alongside bringing in outside expertise, the company signaled its intent to combine operational excellence with new avenues for growth.
