GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General’s Employee Assistance Foundation has been named a winner in Ragan’s 2026 HR Awards’ Employee Benefits category, recognizing the foundation’s support for employees facing extraordinary hardships.
The DG Employee Assistance Foundation, established in 2005, provides financial assistance to Dollar General employees in times of significant need. Since its founding, the foundation has awarded more than $22 million to more than 10,500 employees. In fiscal year 2025 alone, it awarded more than $1.69 million to co-workers in need.
“While we wish our employees never faced challenging situations, we are glad we can extend support during times of extraordinary need to remind them that they’re not alone in these circumstances,” said Denine Torr, Dollar General’s vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. “Since 2005, the Foundation has been a lifeline in moments when life feels heaviest by providing our colleagues with financial support, hope and help in their times of need.”
The foundation reflects Dollar General’s purpose-driven mission of Serving Others by providing funds to employees for funeral expenses for an immediate family member, the loss of a home due to a natural disaster or fire, extraordinary expenses related to an unexpected life-threatening or terminal illness, or rental housing deemed uninhabitable or condemned.
Funding for the foundation comes from Dollar General employees, the company and members of Dollar General’s board of directors. Employees seeking assistance may request applications by emailing DGEAF@dollargeneral.com.
