GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General is leaning into value for the holiday season, expanding its toy assortment and promotions as the discount retailer looks to help budget-conscious shoppers keep gift spending in check.
The retailer said its 2026 holiday lineup includes more than 170 seasonal toys, with half priced at $10 or less and approximately 95% at $20 or less. Stores will also feature a dedicated shelf of toys priced at $5 and under.
Dollar General is adding another incentive for larger purchases, offering customers 25% off toy purchases of $75 or more in a single transaction from Oct. 1 through Dec. 24. The promotion includes qualifying clearance toys, with some exclusions.
“This holiday season, we’re focused on delivering what matters most to our customers: creating memorable moments for less because holiday toy shopping should be exciting, not stressful,” said Steve O’Brien, Dollar General’s vice president and division merchandise manager.
O’Brien said Dollar General is also bringing back its printed toy guide, giving families a traditional way to build holiday wish lists while highlighting the retailer’s emphasis on affordable gifts.
The assortment combines low-priced stocking stuffers with established brands, popular characters and trending collectibles. More than 40 giftable items are priced at $1, including coloring and activity books, novelty pens and stickers featuring characters such as Hello Kitty, Bluey, Mickey Mouse and Paw Patrol.
Dollar General is also adding more than 20 LEGO sets for 2026, priced from $5 to $30, with themes including Frozen, Minecraft, Bluey, Spider-Man, Star Wars and Botanicals. Other offerings include an expanded Pokémon assortment marking the franchise’s 30th anniversary, Play-Doh products priced from $2.50 to $15, Melissa & Doug toys and an expanded selection of Bluey merchandise.
Collectibles and sensory toys are another focus, with products including Mini Brands, My Mini Baby, WWE Ballers and Fugglers. The retailer is also offering $2 miniature versions of Hasbro games including Connect Four, Yahtzee, Operation and Hungry Hippos.
Beyond toys, Dollar General is positioning crafts as another inexpensive holiday gifting option. The company carries more than 300 crafting items, with 85% priced below $5 and more than 50 products priced at $1. The assortment includes paints, canvas and wooden surfaces, clay, ribbon, stickers and products from Crayola and Elmer’s.
The retailer is also using promotions to generate holiday traffic. Through Dec. 14, Dollar General and Hot Wheels are running a sweepstakes that gives eligible customers a chance to win a 2026 Ram 1500 truck.
Dollar General is extending its holiday value proposition to digital shoppers. Customers can order merchandise through myDG for delivery from participating stores, with the retailer offering one free delivery fee to myDG account holders. Delivery is also available through DoorDash and Uber Eats.
The holiday push gives Dollar General another opportunity to capitalize on its extensive store network and value positioning during a period when consumers traditionally face increased household spending. As of July 31, the company operated 21,148 Dollar General, DG Market, DGX and pOpshelf stores in the United States, along with Mi Súper Dollar General stores in Mexico.
