He is responsible for leadership of the company’s buying, planning allocation and distribution teams.
Ratto had been senior vice president and general manager of alcohol/tobacco, home care/general merchandise and family care for Safeway Inc.
A 25-year retailing veteran, Ratto was responsible for the strategic development and tactical implementation of his merchandise categories at Safeway. He began his career as a store manager at the Vons supermarket chain in Southern California, moving up the ranks in buying, category management, merchandising and marketing for alcohol, tobacco and snacks.
