LONDON — Esi Eggleston Bracey was appointed Unilever’s inaugural chief growth and marketing officer in January 2024, tasked with leading the consumer goods giant into the next generation of marketing and growth acceleration.

Bracey’s track record in driving change via brands began early in her career, when she led COVERGIRL’s pioneering work to diversify the face of beauty with disruptive “real beauty” talent such as Queen Latifah, Ellen DeGeneres and Janelle Monáe.

“As chief growth and marketing officer at Unilever, my mission is clear: to drive growth through brands that resonate deeply with people and shape culture,” Bracey says. “We’re moving beyond traditional marketing, integrating our brands seamlessly into the digital and social landscape.”

Unilever’s approach is about creating meaningful connections, she says. “Take our recent ‘When Harry Met Hellmann’s’ campaign — it wasn’t just an ad, it was a cultural moment that translated into real business impact through innovative shoppable ads.”

Throughout her career, Bracey has emphasized what she calls purpose-driven marketing.

“What truly sets us apart is our team’s understanding of human connection. We’re not just selling products; we’re building brands and earning a purchase. This means constantly evolving, embracing new technologies and finding fresh ways to engage people,” she says. “My goal is to harness Unilever’s legacy of understanding people and propel it into the future. We’re creating brands that don’t just participate in culture — they help shape it. It’s about driving conversations, fostering connections, earning the conversion and ultimately delivering growth.”

A native of Chicago, Bracey graduated from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire with a bachelor’s degree in engineering sciences.
