BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has named Enrique Ostale president and chief executive officer of Walmart Latin America, to replace Eduardo Solorzano, who will retire from those posts on March 1. He will remain chairman of the board of Walmart Mexico.

Ostale currently is president and CEO of Walmart Chile. He will be replaced by Gian Carlo Nucci, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Walmart Mexico.
Solorzano served as president and CEO of Walmart Mexico from 2005 to 2010, when he assumed his current post. The company’s Mexico operations have been the object of bribery allegations first published by the New York Times last April. The Times article and a resulting congressional probe contend that an internal investigation of bribery charges made by a whistle-blower within Walmart Mexico were suppressed by the company’s top leaders. Walmart has denied that Solorzano’s retirement is connected in any way with ongoing investigations by the Justice Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission and Mexican authorities.
In other Walmart International moves, Judith McKenna, who was chief operating officer of Asda, the British supermarket chain, has been appointed executive vice president, strategy and international development for the division.
