MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores Inc. has promoted Paul White to the position of executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.
Family Dollar Stores Inc. has promoted Paul White to the position of executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.
The deep discount chain said Monday that White will report to Michael Bloom, president and chief operating officer.
White will take over the post previously held by Dorlisa Flur, who in late September was promoted to vice chairman and chief administrative officer. Flur’s promotion was announced along with the hiring of Bloom, a longtime CVS executive, as Family Dollar’s president and COO, replacing the retiring R. James Kelly.
White joined Family Dollar in January as senior vice president of apparel, home and seasonal. He previously had served as president and chief executive officer of Goody’s LLC, where he refocused the chain’s merchandising and marketing strategies while leading its exit from bankruptcy. He has also held senior executive merchandising posts at Shopko Stores Inc. and the May Department Stores Co.
“Through Paul’s leadership and strategic vision, Family Dollar has created a compelling mix of discretionary merchandise which has led to a more fun place to shop for our customers,” Bloom said in a statement. “Paul’s promotion will help us continue to broaden our appeal and deliver greater value to our customers.”
