MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores Inc. has promoted Jeffrey Thomas to senior vice president for merchandise operations.

Family Dollar Stores Inc. has promoted Jeffrey Thomas to senior vice president for merchandise operations.

Thomas replaces Scott Zucker, who left the dollar store chain at the end of May.

Thomas joined Family Dollar in 2003 as director of vendor performance. Last year he was named vice president of merchant services.

He earned a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Tennessee.

“Jeff’s supply chain, logistics and replenishment experience, along with his proven leadership skills, will ensure that we continue to bring value and convenience to customers at each of our more than 8,100 stores across the country,” says Jason Reiser, who became Family Dollar’s chief merchandising officer in January. Thomas will report to Reiser.
