WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee Inc. will add Market Grille and Market Café restaurants to 50 stores around the Midwest next year, a report in the Des Moines Register says.
Hy-Vee Inc. will add Market Grille and Market Café restaurants to 50 stores around the Midwest next year, a report in the Des Moines Register says.
The report cites Kansas City-based contractor Burns and McDonnell, which said it was awarded a $20 million contract to design and build the new restaurants in about one-fourth of all Hy-Vee stores.
In recent years Hy-Vee has opened Market Grille locations at a handful of new stores in Iowa. The restaurants feature waiter service, a full bar and menus that include steak and seafood entrees.
Burns and McDonnell said the construction project includes about 10 Market Grilles.
The newspaper’s report says Hy-Vee’s Market Cafés feature a pared-down menu of soups, salads, sandwiches, beer and wine. They will be opened in about 40 of Hy-Vee’s smaller locations.
A Hy-Vee spokeswoman says the company plans to include an in-store restaurant at each new store it opens.
Construction of the restaurants is scheduled to begin this month and is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
A spokesman for Burns and McDonnell says the Hy-Vee stores will remain open while the restaurants are being built.
