SALISBURY, N.C. — The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation says it has awarded more than $1.4 million in grants to nonprofit organizations this year, continuing its mission to fight hunger and provide nutritional education across the 10 states where Food Lion operates. The Foundation allocated $750,000 in its fall/winter grant cycle to over 250 nonprofit organizations, following the $675,000 it distributed earlier this year during its spring/summer grant cycle. Since its founding in 2001, the Foundation has provided over $19.6 million in funding to community partners.
“At Food Lion, we believe no one should have to choose between dinner and rent or gas and groceries,” said Adam Bass, Vice President of Pricing at Food Lion and President of the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation. “Through the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, we are committed to ensuring our neighbors and their families receive the nourishment they deserve. We invest in these partnerships by awarding grants that improve access to nutritious food and offer education programs, making a real difference in people’s lives.”
The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization operated by a volunteer board of Food Lion associates, focuses on fighting child hunger and helping local nonprofits expand their capacity to provide fresh and nutritious meals to families in need. Its grant funding supports initiatives that combat food insecurity while promoting healthier lifestyles through nutritional education.
Nonprofits eligible for grants must be affiliated with Feeding America or the United Way. The Foundation holds two grant cycles annually. The next application deadline is March 13, 2025. Grants from that cycle will be awarded in July.
The Foundation’s grants help community organizations tackle food insecurity more effectively and improve access to healthier meals for needy families. By working closely with local partners, the Foundation strives to strengthen communities and ensure families have consistent access to nutritious food.
