SALISBURY, N.C. – From June 17 through July 14, summer shopping at Food Lion helped turn everyday purchases and donations into meaningful support for local communities through Food Lion Feeds’ annual Summers Without Hunger campaign.
Together, Food Lion Feeds, customers, associates and brand partners helped provide the equivalent of more than 27 million meals** to more than 110 local feeding partners working to expand access to nutritious food for children across Food Lion’s 10-state operating area.
The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation will award grants to these organizations to support their efforts to fight childhood hunger. View the full list of 2026 Summers Without Hunger grant recipients.
From June 17 through July 14, Food Lion customers purchased nearly 60,000 specially designed Summers Without Hunger reusable bags for $3.99 each and made additional donations in stores or online through Food Lion To Go. Participating brand partners Cheez-It, General Mills, Lay’s, Kraft Heinz, Triscuit, Hellmann’s, Utz, Campbell’s, Frank’s RedHot, Pepsi and Danone North America collectively matched customer contributions up to $1 million.
Food Lion Feeds is Food Lion’s hunger-relief platform, established in 2014 to help end food insecurity. The Summers Without Hunger campaign launched in 2019 and has helped provide more than 126 million meals to address childhood hunger during the summer months.
“Every bag purchased, every donation made and every conversation our Food Lion associates had with customers helped turn simple actions into meaningful support for our towns and cities,” said Natasha Brinegar, Vice President, Meat and Seafood at Food Lion and President of the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation. “Our local feeding partners understand their communities’ needs, and they can count on Food Lion to help them provide fresh, nutritious meals to nourish neighbors in need.”
