Residents in the Outer Richmond neighborhood received $5 coupons in the mail, along with a promise of “wholesome food, not whole paycheck.”
Although there is a Safeway supermarket in the Outer Richmond area, the neighborhood is considered underserved since an Albertsons Inc. at the current Fresh & Easy location was shuttered in 2007 and a local operator, DeLano’s Market, closed last December.
