Getir completes acquisition of FreshDirect

NEW YORK — The ultrafast grocery delivery company Getir said Friday that it has completed its acquisition of the online grocery delivery company FreshDirect from Ahold Delhaize.

The deal should create significant synergies for the two companies, according to Getir, which said that its technological power will improve FreshDirect’s infrastructure, allowing the grocery delivery company’s customers to receive their orders much faster. And FreshDirect’s wide product portfolio of fresh, high-quality food products and broad customer base will help Getir will accelerate the growth of its fast delivery business in the U.S.

FreshDirect has been at the forefront of online grocery shopping for over 20 years.
