CARLISLE, Pa. – The GIANT Company, known locally as GIANT and MARTIN’S, today announced its new Saxton store at 509 Main St. will open its doors on Friday, May 1 and the new Everett store at 250 West Main St., will follow two weeks later on Friday, May 15. Team members and community leaders will gather for ribbon-cutting ceremonies before both stores officially open to customers at 8 a.m.
“Having served customers in the surrounding region for decades, the Saxton and Everett stores will mark the first GIANT stores in Bedford County,” said John Ruane, president, The GIANT Company. “We are excited to grow in each of these new communities and introduce more customers to the fresh offerings and value that GIANT is known for. In addition to new amenities, Saxton and Everett customers will also find familiar faces among our new team members as we were able to hire many from the former stores.”

GIANT announced the acquisition of Everett Foodliner and Saxton Market in February. The stores are temporarily closed to complete minor remodels, install new signage, and undertake an overall décor update. As part of the celebrations, the first 250 customers at each new store will receive a GIANT reusable shopping bag filled with product samples and other grand opening savings.
Kyler Runk, a 16-year grocery veteran, former store manager of Saxton Market, has been named store manager of the Saxton GIANT, which will operate from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., seven days a week. Saxton customers will find GIANT’S signature fresh departments, including a market-feel produce department, meat and seafood, deli with pre-sliced meats and cheese plus deli salads, dairy, and bakery featuring self-serve donuts. For today’s busy families, the Saxton store features a larger hot food program, including self-serve rotisserie chicken and the addition of self-checkouts.

At the new Everett GIANT, Wendy Evans, a 34-year grocery veteran was named store manager. The Everett store will be open from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., seven days a week, and the fuel station will be open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. every day. In addition to GIANT’S signature fresh departments and many of the updated amenities of the Saxton store, the Everett store also will feature a larger produce department with added variety of fruits and vegetables and an expanded dairy department. New shelving in center store will allow for more product variety and categories and self-checkouts will be available for added customer convenience.
Both the Saxton and Everett stores will offer GIANT Direct. Designed to serve customers when and how they want to shop, GIANT Direct gives busy families the opportunity to order their groceries online for easy curbside pick-up at giantdirect.com. In addition, both stores will feature brand new lottery kiosks for self-serve scratch-offs and other games of chance.
GIANT will employ more than 120 full- and part-time team members between both stores.
