CARLISLE, Pa. — The GIANT Company will hold grand reopenings Friday for two remodeled stores in Chambersburg, Pa., following several months of renovations that updated fresh departments, prepared foods and pharmacy services while the stores remained open.
The stores, located at 925 Norland Ave. and 993 Wayne Ave., will mark the completion of the work with festivities and product sampling throughout the day. Both locations updated their produce, bakery, meat and seafood departments as well as center-store aisles, and overhauled their deli and prepared foods sections to expand hot food and grab-and-go options. Beer and wine sections were relocated to the front corner of each store, and the company's "Wall of Values" displays, which highlight weekly circular sale items, were redesigned.
The Norland Avenue store's pharmacy was rebuilt with a private consultation room for administering vaccines, while the Wayne Avenue store added a new customer service alcove.
"This remodel enabled us to improve efficiencies and flow throughout the store for our customers, while showcasing GIANT's commitment to value and freshness with more product variety and updates to our produce and other fresh departments," said Matthew Koppenhaver, the Norland Avenue store manager.
Bryan Robertson, the Wayne Avenue store manager, said shoppers would notice both a redesigned layout and new products. "Customers will notice a new look and feel throughout the store and our dedicated store team is ready with kindness to assist them in their shopping needs," he said. "In addition to their favorite products, there's also a great combination of new offerings and products for customers to try, especially in the prepared foods area."
Friday's reopening events will include a gift card raffle, giveaways and free cake, along with product sampling from vendors including Boar's Head, Country Acres, Rastelli Burgers and Hissho Sushi. Cookie decorating will be available near the bakery, and national brand mascots Chester Cheetah and Bimbo Bakeries' Osito the Bear are scheduled to make appearances.
The Norland Avenue store has served the Chambersburg community since 2007 and employs about 180 people. The Wayne Avenue store has operated since 1990 and employs about 145 people. Both are open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The GIANT Company, known locally as GIANT and MARTIN'S, operates nearly 200 stores across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia and employs more than 35,000 people. The company, founded in Carlisle in 1923, is part of Ahold Delhaize USA.
