JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Goya Foods has announced the success of its GOYA Cares Hydrate for Hope campaign, which raised $350,000 to combat child abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and mental health challenges among children and teens. The highlight of this impactful initiative is a $50,000 contribution to Olive Crest, a nonprofit recognized for its leadership in preventing child abuse and supporting families in crisis.
Goya Foods, the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the U.S., launched the Hydrate for Hope campaign as part of its GOYA Cares initiative. The campaign addresses the alarming rise in child exploitation and mental health issues. It leverages the sale of GOYA Coconut Water to raise funds and awareness for these critical causes. The $350,000 generated will go toward preventive education programs in schools across the country, in collaboration with GOYA Cares coalition partners.
“At Goya, we believe in not just nourishing the body but also uplifting communities,” Goya president and CEO Bob Unanue said. “The success of this campaign underscores the power of collective action in protecting and healing our most vulnerable—children and teens.”
A significant portion of the campaign’s success lies in its ability to amplify the work of organizations like Olive Crest, which the State of California asked to expand its facilities and services to assist more minors who have been victims of sex trafficking. With the $50,000 donation from Goya Foods, Olive Crest can continue its mission of "strengthening, equipping, and restoring children and families in crisis...One Life at a Time."
The campaign also reinforces Goya's dedication to making a tangible difference, the company said. Beyond providing financial support, GOYA Cares initiatives focus on raising awareness and creating educational resources to address the root causes of child exploitation and mental health challenges.
