Hannaford to acquire Graves’ Shop ’n Save in Presque Isle

The acquisition formalizes a longstanding relationship between the two companies. Although independently owned and operated, Graves’ Shop ’n Save has long been supplied and supported by Hannaford.

SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Hannaford Supermarkets announced plans to acquire the Graves’ Shop ’n Save in Presque Isle, Maine, with the store expected to begin operating under the Hannaford banner in late fall 2026.

Located at 797 Main Street, the store has served the Presque Isle community for nearly seven decades. The business opened under the ownership of the Graves family in 1959 and remained family-operated until January 2022, when Brandon Hopkins assumed ownership and continued its longstanding commitment to customers and the community.

“When I took ownership of the store, we were committed to maintaining the strong foundation built by the Graves family and ensuring it continued to serve the community well,” Hopkins said. “I’m pleased to have found a partner in Hannaford that shares that commitment. We’re confident Hannaford will continue to build on the store’s legacy for years to come.”

The acquisition formalizes a longstanding relationship between the two companies. Although independently owned and operated, Graves’ Shop ’n Save has long been supplied and supported by Hannaford.

“It has been an honor to serve this community and be a part of so many customers’ lives over the years,” said Bob Graves, a former owner who, along with his brother Greg, has been involved with the store since the early 1970s. “While this transition marks the beginning of a new chapter, we’re confident Hannaford will provide the same level of personalized service and outstanding products that make the Graves shopping experience so special.”

Once converted, the store will offer Hannaford’s fresh food assortment, everyday low prices and private-label brands, including Taste of Inspirations, Hannaford and Nature’s Promise. Shoppers will also have access to My Hannaford Rewards, which allows members to earn 2% rewards on private-brand purchases and receive personalized coupons.

“This store has earned the trust of generations of customers, and we’re honored to carry that legacy forward,” said Todd Bullen, vice president of retail operations for Hannaford Supermarkets. “Our focus is on preserving what customers value most while continuing to deliver fresh, quality products, dependable value and exceptional service in a welcoming environment. We look forward to strengthening our connection with the Presque Isle community and building lasting relationships with customers, associates and local partners.”

With the addition of the Presque Isle location, Hannaford’s store count will increase to 189 locations, including 69 in Maine. Founded in Portland in 1883, Hannaford Supermarkets is headquartered in Scarborough, Maine.
