Hepfinger, Weis CEO, steps down

SUNBURY, Pa. — David Hepfinger has resigned as president and chief executive officer of Weis Markets Inc. He has left the company to pursue other interests.

Vice chairman Jonathan Weis replaces Hepfinger as interim CEO; Robert Weis remains as chairman.

"We thank Dave for his service and contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors," said Weis.

Hepfinger also resigned from the company’s board.

As part of the reorganization, Kurt Schertle, executive vice president of sales and merchandising, reports to Weis, who also oversees the real estate/store development, finance and human resources teams. Until the reorganization is complete Schertle will take on additional responsibilities, overseeing store operations and its operations support team.
Founded in 1912, Weis Markets is a Mid Atlantic food retailer operating 165 stores.
