NORCROSS, Ga. — For the second straight year, Hibiclens antiseptic skin cleanser was the antibacterial soap most recommended by pharmacists, according to a survey published recently in U.S. News & World Report.
The Mölnlycke Health Care brand is recognized as strong enough for medical use and gentle enough for regular consumer use on sensitive skin, according to the company.
“Pharmacists are an important source of O-T-C recommendations for consumers,” said Janet Carter Smith, vice president, retail, at Mölnlycke. “We are pleased that pharmacists, one of the most trusted health care professionals among consumers, consistently recognize the important benefit Hibiclens provides to consumers who are concerned about eliminating germs that can cause infections and illness.”
Hibiclens can continue working to kill germs for up to 24 hours, according to the company, which notes that alcohol-based hand sanitizers, by contrast, have no on-going antimicrobrial effect once they have dried.
