WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee, Inc. is donating a total of $125,000 to help feed families across its eight-state region as food insecurity continues to rise.
The grocer announced that $100,000 will be donated to its Feeding America partner food banks, which are experiencing increased demand as the holiday season nears. The funds will assist local food banks in maintaining adequate inventory levels to serve the community.
“Hy-Vee is committed to helping make sure no one goes hungry,” said Jeremy Gosch, chairman and CEO of Hy-Vee, Inc. “By working with our food bank partners, we continue to support the health and wellbeing of those impacted in the communities we serve.”
Tami Nielsen, president and CEO of the Food Bank of Iowa, added: “This is yet another example of Hy-Vee’s steadfast commitment to hunger relief. Words can’t express how thankful we are to receive this support at a time when it is so greatly needed. This will make a real difference for the people we serve.”
Besides the food bank donation, Hy-Vee is giving $25,000 to DoorDash’s initiative that waives delivery and service fees for customers receiving food assistance benefits, helping families stretch their budgets further.
The latest donation continues a history of over $70 million in in-kind food donations from Hy-Vee over the past year, supporting its food rescue program, school pantry projects, and events like Hams for the Holidays, Meals From the Heartland, and 100 Million Meals. Hy-Vee is also honored as a Visionary Partner by Feeding America, the organization’s top corporate award.
