WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Hy-Vee this month will celebrate the grand opening of the newest store featuring the regional supermarket chain’s entirely reimagined grocery store format.

After more than a year of construction, the store, in Gretna, Neb., is set to greet its first customers June 13.

The 135,000-square-foot store will feature many of the amenities that Hy-Vee is known for plus newer elements that modernize the shopping experience.

The format highlights several newer departments and partnerships, as well as amenities such as a 6,300-square-foot Aisles Online grocery delivery and pickup service and an adjacent 4,250-square-foot Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh location, combining the quick service of a convenience store with an offering of fresh food and ready-to-eat meals.

The store carries about 120,000 items, including more than 6,300 specialty items, more than 8,000 HealthMarket items and more than 3,500 fresh produce offerings (including 120 organic items), the company said in announcing the opening.

The employee-owned company also announced that is hosting the next quarterly Best of Local Brands Summit in August to expand and enhance the product offerings at its more than 285 retail stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Since the Best of Local Brands summits began in early 2021, more than 125 new brands have been selected and are available to Hy-Vee customers.

The summit will consist of 15- to 30-minute virtual presentations from selected suppliers and will take place Wednesday, Aug. 2. ECRM and RangeMe are helping the company source, qualify and connect with suppliers, Hy-Vee said. All product submissions will be made through RangeMe, an online product discovery and sourcing platform. All meetings will be conducted through ECRM’s virtual meeting platform, ECRM Connect. Suppliers not chosen for participation in this summit will still be accessible through RangeMe and may be reviewed by Hy-Vee in the future.
