WEST DES MOINES, Iowa  – Hy-Vee Inc. is deploying its Disaster Relief Fleet to locations in Florida impacted by Hurricane Ian.

The relief effort involves two caravans. The first group will take Hy-Vee’s mobile command center, Hy-Vee’s mobile water system (which includes a tank and pump trailer), and Hy-Vee’s rapid response pickup truck. The second group departed Saturday morning from Hy-Vee’s Chariton Distribution Center with 9 semis filled with water, ice, snacks, cleaning supplies and protein donated by Hormel Foods.

Hy-Vee’s disaster relief team is working with local emergency operations centers and nonprofits to initially assist with recovery efforts in Port Charlotte and Bradenton, Florida. More than 20 Hy-Vee employees have volunteered to take part in the effort.
