WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee will continue its annual Veterans Day tradition, started in 1999, by offering veterans and active-duty military members free breakfasts and a 15% grocery discount.
All Hy-Vee stores offering hot food will serve a buffet-style breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 6 to 10 a.m. That day, veterans and active-duty service members will also receive 15% off grocery purchases made in stores or ordered online at Hy-Vee and Dollar Fresh Market locations.
The breakfast is part of Hy-Vee Homefront, an initiative launched in 2013 to support veterans, active-duty military members and their families. It has donated more than $4.3 million to nonprofits that serve these groups and offers special benefits and incentives to Hy-Vee employees who are veterans or active-duty service members.
This year’s observance coincides with America’s 250th anniversary.
